Racing Incident Report

FELLOWSHIP was slow to begin. On jumping, SOLAR MIGHTY was crowded for room between VIKING TOR and WINNING REWARD which shifted in abruptly. GALBRAITH began awkwardly, shifted out and caused some inconvenience to CLASSIC REUNION. Shortly after the start, CONQUEROR was steadied away from the heels of LIAOBUQI (Apprentice C K Tong) which shifted in. Apprentice Tong was advised to exercise greater care. For a considerable distance approaching the 800 Metres, POCKET MONEY, which was proving difficult to settle, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LIAOBUQI. Making the Home Turn, CALIFORNIA LUCK hung out. Apprentice C W Wong (DARE TO WIN) said he had been instructed to ride the horse where it was comfortable and due to the anticipated pace of the race it was thought this would be around midfield. He said DARE TO WIN did not begin cleanly and as other runners immediately went forward of him he elected to shift DARE TO WIN across to the rail to a position with cover, however, further back than anticipated. LIAOBUQI and GALBRAITH were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, LIAOBUQI was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being allowed to race again, LIAOBUQI will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of GALBRAITH after the race did not show any significant findings. VIKING TOR, FELLOWSHIP and POCKET MONEY were sent for sampling.
