Racing Incident Report

Shortly after the start, GLOBAL LEADER was steadied when awkwardly placed between THE ONE and EUPHORIC KID. Also shortly after the start, BAJAN BELL and FIRST KNIGHT were steadied when crowded for room between TRIUMPH which shifted out and HURRICANE WAY which shifted in. In the early stages, HURRICANE WAY proved difficult to settle. For the major part of the race, CLEMENT ELITE travelled wide and without cover, after the 900 Metres when proving difficult to settle got its head up and was allowed to stride forward. At the 600 Metres, GEM MASTER was shifted wider on the track from behind KEEN SOUL which at this time commenced to give ground. At the same time, THE ONE was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of KEEN SOUL. Prior to straightening, GLOBAL LEADER, which was shifting out in an endeavour to find clear running, was steadied away from the heels of KEEN SOUL which continued to give ground. Shortly after straightening, GLOBAL LEADER was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between FUJIAN PRINCE and GEM MASTER. At the 200 Metres, EUPHORIC KID was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between FIRST KNIGHT and MUTUAL FUN which at this time shifted out. At the 100 Metres, when closing the race off strongly, MUTUAL FUN was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of CLEMENT ELITE. Apprentice K T Yeung (MUTUAL FUN) explained he had been instructed from the outside barrier to take the horse to a rearward position and ensure it had cover. He said it was anticipated this would allow the horse to close the race off. He said because the rail was in the C+3 position, it was considered to have gone forward in the early stages would have resulted in MUTUAL FUN racing wide and without cover. He said when ridden in this manner MUTUAL FUN closed the race off strongly, however, it was inclined to hang in in the Straight. D Nikolic (FUJIAN PRINCE) said he had been instructed to ride the horse from a wide barrier patiently and to ensure he had cover. He said at its most recent start when ridden forward from a wide barrier FUJIAN PRINCE had failed to close the race off and was disappointing. He said today when being ridden quietly FUJIAN PRINCE closed the race off satisfactorily. He did say from a more favourable barrier FUJIAN PRINCE would be better suited when ridden more prominently. GEM MASTER and GLOBAL LEADER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, GLOBAL LEADER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had sustained abrasions to the left hind cannon and heel. Also after the race, GEM MASTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings other than the horse had lost its right front plate. BAJAN BELL and NOBLE ZOOM were sent for sampling. Following the race, it was reported CLEMENT ELITE had bled from both nostrils.
