Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, CHOICE AND CHANCE had an adjustment made to its left front plate. CHOICE AND CHANCE was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. After being boxed, SUPER SNIPPETS became fractious and dislodged O Doleuze, its rider. CIRCULAR MACHINE was slow to begin, then lost further ground when making contact with FERRO BEAU. As a consequence of this, FERRO BEAU also lost ground. DASHING THUNDER began awkwardly, shortly afterwards was crowded for room between CHOICE AND CHANCE and WISE LOVER, both of which shifted ground. Approaching the 1000 Metres, FERRO BEAU proved difficult to settle. At the 500 Metres, FERRO BEAU was awkwardly placed inside the heels of NORTHERN HERO. On straightening, NORTHERN HERO was bumped and carried wider by WISE LOVER. After the 200 Metres, QUEST FOR LOVE was steadied and shifted out from behind WISE LOVER to obtain clear running. When QUEST FOR LOVE shifted out, SPEEDING MOLLY was carried wider. At the 100 Metres, WISE LOVER was steadied when disappointed for running between NORTHERN HERO and CIRCULAR MACHINE which when improving towards the outside of CHEERFUL MASTER was carried wider by that runner. After this, WISE LOVER was switched in to obtain clear running. For the major part of the race, NORTHERN HERO travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the improved performance of CHEERFUL MASTER, Mr A Lee, trainer of the horse, said it had taken some time to acclimatize since arriving from Australia. He said CHEERFUL MASTER was today racing second up after a lengthy spell following a bleeding attack. He said at its most recent start at Happy Valley over 1200 Metres CHEERFUL MASTER had disappointed him. He said as a result of that he decided to increase the amount of work given to CHEERFUL MASTER and increase the distance of its race. He said he believed because of the tempo of the race today CHEERFUL MASTER was able to obtain a more forward position without being ridden along to do so. He added today was the first occasion on which CHEERFUL MASTER had raced in Class 3. He did say he was anticipating a somewhat improved performance from CHEERFUL MASTER today, however, he did not believe the horse to be a strong chance of winning. CHOICE AND CHANCE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CHOICE AND CHANCE after the race did not show any significant findings. CHEERFUL MASTER and NORTHERN HERO were sent for sampling.
