Racing Incident Report
The Stewards today interviewed Mr A T Millard, trainer of SING FAY FAY, as to the circumstances regarding the horse being mistakenly treated with clenbuterol (respiratory treatment) yesterday morning. SING FAY FAY was withdrawn by order of the Stewards and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HONEY MONEY (Apprentice K L Chui). Mr Millard pleaded guilty to being in breach of Rule 50(2) in that he failed in his responsibility for the work of the stable staff allocated to him which resulted in SING FAY FAY being mistakenly treated. For this breach, Mr Millard was fined $20,000. TIME SUPREME and GREENESSY were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, HONEY MONEY blundered badly and as a consequence lost a considerable amount of ground. Near the 1300 Metres, INDUSTRIAL SUCCESS got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of TRIUMPHANT UNICORN. At the 1200 Metres, BEING FAMOUS was hampered and carried wider by TRIUMPHANT UNICORN which shifted out. Near the 600 Metres, AMPLE GAINS stumbled when awkwardly placed inside the heels of BEING FAMOUS. On straightening, WADADELIGHT was steadied and shifted to the outside of TRIUMPHANT UNICORN into clear running. Near the 300 Metres, SUPER WONGCHOY was shifted out to obtain clear running, then at the 150 Metres got its head on the side, shifted in and was steadied away from the heels of BEING FAMOUS. The performance of GREENESSY, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GREENESSY will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned, S K Sit (TRIUMPHANT UNICORN) said his mount began well from the inside barrier and was able to initially obtain a position behind the leader. He said making the first turn TRIUMPHANT UNICORN commenced to race awkwardly and hang out. He said because of this GLOBAL WIN was able to shift to the fence in front of his mount. He said TRIUMPHANT UNICORN then shifted to a one off position, however, after entering the Back Straight continued to hang out and at the 1000 Metres shifted to a position to be racing four wide and without cover. S Dye (TIME SUPREME), which was having its first start on the All Weather surface today, said his mount travelled in a rearward position as expected. He said near the 700 Metres he shifted out to follow GREENESSY forward, however, TIME SUPREME was left flat-footed and failed to quicken. He said on straightening he shifted TIME SUPREME back towards the rail and when balanced the horse then finished the race off fairly from the rear. Apprentice K L Chui explained his mount blundered badly shortly after the start. He said following this HONEY MONEY felt awkward in its action. He said he allowed HONEY MONEY to become properly balanced, however, after entering the Back Straight he continued to have concerns over the horse's action and therefore eased the horse out of the race. He said on returning to scale he felt the horse was sore in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, HONEY MONEY will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TIME SUPREME and HONEY MONEY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TIME SUPREME and HONEY MONEY after the race did not show any significant findings. YOUNG HERO, FAT CHOY FOREVER and GLOBAL WIN were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported FAT CHOY FOREVER had lost its right front plate.
