Racing Incident Report
D Whyte (FORTUNE GOLD) was fined $1,000 for initially entering the incorrect barrier stall. On jumping, DANEPRINT got its head up and was then taken across behind runners. BEST CHOICE was slow to muster speed. Near the 1700 Metres, SMARTY got its head up when being steadied to obtain a position with cover. At the 800 Metres, WISHING WELL, which was proving difficult to settle, was shifted to a three wide position and allowed to improve around FABULOUS TREASURE which commenced to give ground. O Doleuze (DANSING FUN), 6th placegetter, was reminded of his responsibility to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race. E Saint-Martin (BEST CHOICE) said the horse did not feel comfortable in its action. He said he rode along after straightening, BEST CHOICE did not respond as he felt it should, then after the 200 Metres when making some ground, he steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of WISHING WELL which was giving ground. He said after this BEST CHOICE continued to finish the race off only fairly and did not quicken. The performance of FABULOUS TREASURE, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FABULOUS TREASURE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Apprentice K L Chui (WISHING WELL) said his mount travelled comfortably until after straightening, however, was most disappointing when it failed to respond to his riding and gave ground over the concluding stages. FABULOUS TREASURE, FIGS and WISHING WELL were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FABULOUS TREASURE, FIGS and WISHING WELL after the race did not show any significant findings. FORTUNE GOLD, STAR PRODIGY and ACCELERATION were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 2 May 2007)
The Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison reported that BEST CHOICE was this morning found to be lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, BEST CHOICE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
