Racing Incident Report
As the start was effected, STEEL NERVES bounded in the air and lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, STEEL NERVES will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. SHATIN WIN WIN began awkwardly. GANBARIA began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SUPER CHARGE. Shortly after the start, FAST TRACK was momentarily crowded for room inside SPLENDID SAILS which shifted in. Passing the 1200 Metres, SWEET BABY was steadied away from the heels of TREMENDOUS PLUS which in turn was steadied to avoid the heels of SPLENDID SAILS (M W Leung) which shifted in when not clear. M W Leung was advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear before shifting ground in future. Passing the 900 Metres, GANBARIA was steadied away from the heels of JOYFUL WORLD (Apprentice H W Lai) which shifted in when not clear. Apprentice Lai was reprimanded and advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear before shifting ground in future. ARISTOCRACY, which was following, was steadied in consequence. After this incident, GANBARIA shifted out and bumped SUPER CHARGE. Shortly after entering the Straight, ARISTOCRACY shifted out and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PICTURE PERFECT. Approaching the 200 Metres, SWEET BABY was steadied away from the heels of FAST TRACK (C K Tong) which shifted in. C K Tong was advised to ensure he makes every effort to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances. In this incident, BIG KAHUNA, ACTIVE VALOUR and ARISTOCRACY, which were racing to the inside of SWEET BABY, were hampered. C K Tong was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to continue to shift in across the running of REWARDING STAR which was steadied to avoid the heels of FAST TRACK near the 100 Metres. C K Tong was advised in similar circumstances he should stop riding and straighten his mounts as soon as he is able. Throughout the race, SUPER CHARGE travelled wide and without cover. F Coetzee (TREMENDOUS PLUS) and B Prebble (BIG KAHUNA) both reported their mounts failed to handle the track conditions. When questioned, G Mossé (STEEL NERVES) stated after the horse began badly he allowed the horse, under its big weight to find its feet in the early stages and gradually catch up to the field. He added approaching the 800 Metres when racing on the outside of FAST TRACK, STEEL NERVES became unbalanced when bumped by that horse. He further added he placed STEEL NERVES under pressure from the 600 Metres, however, the horse did not respond to his riding and gave ground in the Straight. STEEL NERVES was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. BIG KAHUNA and GANBARIA were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of STEEL NERVES, BIG KAHUNA and GANBARIA after the race did not show any significant findings. FAST TRACK and SUPER CHARGE were sent for sampling.
