Racing Incident Report
PRIME SCORE was withdrawn on 8.6.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter BEING FAMOUS (S Dye). Before being allowed to race again, PRIME SCORE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GOOD PARTNER and YANKEE began awkwardly. On jumping, JADE DRAGONFLY was steadied when crowded for room between LUCKY MONEY and REAL SURPRISE which shifted out after being bumped by LE ROSSIGNOL. In the early stages, BEING FAMOUS despite being ridden along failed to muster speed and got well back. For the major part of the race, HAPPY CRUSADER and RICH FOR ALL travelled wide and without cover. The performances of GOOD PARTNER and HAPPY CRUSADER, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOOD PARTNER and HAPPY CRUSADER will both have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. E Saint-Martin (BEST POWER) reported near the 800 Metres he was struck in the face by a clod. After the race, S Dye reported he experienced difficulty with visibility after his mount travelled further back than is usual. When questioned, A Delpech (CRUSADER OF GOLD) said he had been required to make some use of his mount throughout the run to maintain his position. He said prior to straightening there was an opportunity for him to improve outside JADE DRAGONFLY and he commenced to ride his mount along hands and heels in an endeavour to do so, however, CRUSADER OF GOLD failed to respond. He said shortly after straightening JADE DRAGONFLY was able to shift out from his inside when barely clear and as a consequence of this he momentarily steadied his mount. He said once balanced in the Home Straight CRUSADER OF GOLD when in clear running finished the race off strongly as it has in the past. B Prebble (GOOD PARTNER) explained he had been advised the horse handled wet track conditions. He said throughout the race today he was required to make some use of GOOD PARTNER in an endeavour to hold a position and in the Straight his mount gave ground. He said the manner in which GOOD PARTNER travelled indicated to him that it was not comfortable racing on today's track surface. GOOD PARTNER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOOD PARTNER after the race did not show any significant findings. LE ROSSIGNOL, FORTUNE WARRIOR and JADE DRAGONFLY were sent for sampling.
