Racing Incident Report

On jumping, STEEL NERVES and DON RICARDO bumped. Also on jumping, AWARD blundered. Approaching the 1000 Metres, SPARKLING STAR was bumped by STEEL NERVES which when travelling keenly initially hung in and was then shifted out away from the heels of DIAMOND ERA. Shortly after this, STEEL NERVES, which continued to prove difficult to settle, got its head up when being checked away from the heels of DIAMOND ERA and ADD THE FUN. For a short distance shortly after straightening, Y T Cheng (CONGRATS) lost the use of his left stirrup iron. As a result, Y T Cheng became unbalanced. Throughout the race, JUBILOSO travelled wide and without cover. E Saint-Martin (ADD THE FUN) said he had been advised prior to the race that the horse does not show natural gate speed and some use had to be made of it to obtain a forward position. He said because of this he gave ADD THE FUN a good warm up behind the barriers. He said in the early stages after being crossed by SOLAR POWER, ADD THE FUN commenced to prove very difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. He said when ADD THE FUN was still racing awkwardly after the 1200 Metres, he elected to come back away from the heels of SOLAR POWER in an endeavour to have the horse relaxed. He said after entering the Back Straight ADD THE FUN relaxed, however, at that time he was some distance behind JUBILOSO. He said after the 700 Metres he commenced to improve his position. He said however shortly afterwards ADD THE FUN was under pressure and in the Straight then gave ground. He said he believed the manner in which ADD THE FUN raced in the early stages was attributable to the horse's poor performance. MIRACULOUS, CONGRATS and WHIPLASH were sent for sampling.
