Racing Incident Report
SPEEDY WARRIOR was slow to begin. AMPLE GAINS was slow to muster speed despite being ridden along in the early stages. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, MAGIC TEMPLE, which had been taken back from a wide barrier when being shifted in, was checked to avoid the heels of LOTZATOW. For a short distance after straightening, AMPLE GAINS was held up and unable to improve. Near the 300 Metres, MAGIC TEMPLE was checked when disappointed for running between SPEEDY WARRIOR and SIAMERIC TE SPECSO which was giving ground. In this incident, SPEEDY WARRIOR was bumped by MAGIC TEMPLE. Near the 200 Metres, MAGIC TEMPLE, which was continuing to have difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted to the inside of SING FAY FAY. Throughout the race, SIAMERIC TE SPECSO travelled wide and without cover. W M Lai (FIRST BABY) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse from an outside barrier quietly in the early stages. He said it was felt if FIRST BABY were ridden to go forward, it would be left racing wide and without cover. G Mossé (BEING FAMOUS) said because of the quick early tempo of the race he had been required to make use of the horse to obtain a forward position as instructed. He said BEING FAMOUS travelled only fairly in the run, came under pressure after the 700 Metres and commenced to give ground at the 300 Metres. He said in his opinion BEING FAMOUS may at this stage of its preparation be better suited racing over distances of further than the 1650 Metres of today's race. When questioned regarding the poor performance of GLOBAL WIN, Z Purton said his mount travelled satisfactorily until after straightening when it failed to respond to his riding. He said over the concluding stages GLOBAL WIN gave ground quickly. He said in the Home Straight GLOBAL WIN was making an abnormal breathing noise. GLOBAL WIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GLOBAL WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, GLOBAL WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the poor performance of FAT CHOY FOREVER, Y T Cheng said he had been advised he should lead and find the rail as the horse when racing away from the rail previously has performed poorly. He said from a wide barrier he rode along in the early stages in accordance with his instructions, however, a number of other runners drawn to his inside also went forward and as a consequence he was required to continue to ride FAT CHOY FOREVER along until he was clear to cross to the lead after the 1300 Metres. He said he then steadied the tempo on FAT CHOY FOREVER and his mount travelled comfortably. He said prior to straightening GLOBAL WIN improved to race on his outside. He said on straightening he placed FAT CHOY FOREVER under pressure, however, the horse failed to respond to his riding and commenced to give ground quickly. He said in his opinion the use he was required to make of FAT CHOY FOREVER in the early stages to follow his riding instructions accounted for the horse’s poor performance. FAT CHOY FOREVER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, FAT CHOY FOREVER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings other than the horse had lost its left front plate. SIAMERIC TE SPECSO was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SIAMERIC TE SPECSO after the race did not show any significant findings. SUMMERVILLE POWER and AMPLE GAINS were sent for sampling.
