Racing Incident Report

SICHUAN HERO sat back as the gates opened and lost a considerable amount of ground at the start. VISIONARIO and GOLDEN BALL were slow to begin. Apprentice K T Yeung (WEI HAI INVINCIBLE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after passing the winning post on the first occasion he when steadying his mount shifted in while not clear of GOLDEN BALL, causing that horse to strike its heels, blunder and almost fall. Apprentice Yeung was fined $30,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 3 Hong Kong racedays. At the 1300 Metres, GOLDEN BALL was steadied away from the heels of WEI HAI INVINCIBLE which at this time shifted out. When GOLDEN BALL was checked after passing the winning post on the first occasion and then steadied at the 1300 Metres, SUPER CHARGE was hampered and carried wider by that horse and after this travelled wide and without cover for the remainder of the race. After the 400 Metres, GOLDEN BALL was steadied away from the heels of SUPER CHARGE which was giving ground. Near the 200 Metres, ADD THE FUN was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between WEI HAI INVINCIBLE and OLYMPICSHIP. CHATER SILK and LUMINOUS were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that VISIONARIO was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being permitted to race again, VISIONARIO will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
