Racing Incident Report

HOME TREASURE lifted its front feet off the ground as the gates opened and was slow to begin. On jumping, CHINA LUJIA and MASTER ELITE bumped. Also BUTTERFIELD and MISSION bumped on jumping. After the 1300 Metres, MISSION was steadied away from the heels of BUTTERFIELD. In the early stages, DILIGENT II was taken back from the outside barrier. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SUPER FIGHTER was steadied when crowded for room between CHAMPION LAD and CHINA LUJIA. Making the turn after the 700 Metres, HOME TREASURE hung out. B Prebble (PLAN B) explained when the horse was successful at its most recent start, it was able to obtain cover from the jump, as a consequence relaxed in the run and was able to quicken after straightening. He said today from barrier 1 the field remained racing away from the fence in the early stages and he therefore did not obtain cover. He said because of this PLAN B over-raced and did not relax in the early stages. He said after straightening PLAN B did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure and in his opinion raced “flat” after enduring a tough run at its most recent start. PLAN B was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of PLAN B after the race did not show any significant findings. MASTER ELITE, DREAM TEAM and CHINA LUJIA were sent for sampling. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on MASTER ELITE at the request of Trainer C W Chang. The Veterinary Officer said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MASTER ELITE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
