Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, MAGIC TURBO became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, MAGIC TURBO will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. HANNAH KING PRAWN and JOHNSON began awkwardly and lost ground. BRILLIANT FLASH was slow to begin, bumped KAISER'S CHOIX and then lost its position when crowded for room between KAISER'S CHOIX and EMBRACES. From the outside barrier on jumping, MAGIC TURBO was taken back. Near the 1500 Metres, TRIUMPH was crowded for room inside JOHNSON (K T Yeung) which after being vigorously ridden along to make up ground was checked and shifted in abruptly away from the heels of SHINING DRAGON. K T Yeung was told in similar circumstances he would be expected to exercise greater care. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, EMBRACES was left racing wide and without cover. After the 1100 Metres, JOHNSON, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SHINING DRAGON. For the major part of the race, SHINING DRAGON hung out. MAGIC TURBO, MY MELODY and SHINING DRAGON were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MAGIC TURBO after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, MY MELODY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse, which had previously had surgery for a roaring condition, was noted to continue to have a restricted airway. Also after the race, SHINING DRAGON was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. JOHNSON, JUGGERNAUT and HANNAH KING PRAWN were sent for sampling.
