Racing Incident Report
FLAG FINDER was withdrawn on 17.2.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore left fore suspensory) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FOREVER SUPPORT (D Whyte). Before being allowed to race again, FLAG FINDER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NEW IDEA was slow to begin and then lost further ground when crowded for room between FOREVER SUPPORT and SEIZE THE DAY which on jumping shifted in. THE REAL MCCOY was slow into stride. From the outside barrier, SPARKLING was taken back in the early stages. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, KINGSTON WINNER got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of WASABISABI. For the major part of the race, SEIZE THE DAY travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the poor performance of REGENCY KINGDOM, K L Chui said after being boxed his mount became fractious and reared. He said when the gates opened REGENCY KINGDOM began awkwardly and then after being ridden along was able to obtain a position in midfield. He said at no stage of the race did REGENCY KINGDOM travel well. He said making the turn at the 600 Metres after steadying his mount when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SEIZE THE DAY, REGENCY KINGDOM immediately came under pressure and commenced to give ground. He said in the Straight REGENCY KINGDOM did not respond to his riding. FOREVER SUPPORT and REGENCY KINGDOM were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FOREVER SUPPORT and REGENCY KINGDOM after the race did not show any significant findings. SOU MA TAM and SUPER FIGHTER were sent for sampling.
