Racing Incident Report
GALLANT CHAMPION was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left fore fetlock). Before being allowed to race again, GALLANT CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When being loaded, BOUNCER kicked out behind and made contact with the back gates of its stall. BOUNCER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse had multiple abrasions to its right hock and in his opinion was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of BOUNCER. Before being allowed to race again, BOUNCER will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PLAN EX was slow to begin. In the early and middle stages, ENERGIZED proved difficult to settle and at the 900 Metres shifted out away from the heels of UNWRITTEN RULE. When ENERGIZED shifted out, MEDICO improved to its inside and as a consequence ENERGIZED was left racing three wide and without cover and making the turn at the 800 Metres hung out. Rounding the Home Turn, FEARLESS was held up and unable to improve. Between the 400 Metres and the 200 Metres, PLAN EX, which was not able to obtain clear running, was steadied and shifted wider on the track. Over the final 200 Metres, FEARLESS hung in. For the majority of the Home Straight, FLYING TAMARI hung in. In the Straight, SPECIAL DAYS hung out. PLAN EX, FEARLESS and SPECIAL DAYS were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that MEDICO had lost its left front plate.
