Racing Incident Report

SUPER CARDED and SUNRISE bumped at the start. After this, SUPER CARDED was ridden along to obtain a forward position and at the 1200 Metres was steadied away from the heels of YOUNG HERO which shifted in. Near the 1200 Metres, BIG WINNER AGAIN, which was reluctant to hold its position, was checked when crowded for room between GREAT HEART and OUTDOOR PEGASUS (J Victoire) which shifted in. J Victoire was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure he leaves sufficient racing room for other runners when shifting ground in future. Rounding the first turn, OUTDOOR PEGASUS shifted out and was checked away from the heels of CHEERFUL CITY. Near the 300 Metres, MR TOPAZ was steadied away from the heels of YOUNG HERO. Throughout the race, GO DAN GO travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of TAKEANOTHERCHANCE, W C Marwing said that after being slow to begin, he rode the horse along aggressively to have it make up lost ground. He said the horse failed to muster speed and he was obliged to ride it continually throughout the race to have it travel. He said a forward showing was expected of TAKEANOTHERCHANCE today as the horse had performed well in New Zealand on wet tracks prior to being imported into Hong Kong. He said, in his opinion, TAKEANOTHERCHANCE raced “flat” today. A veterinary inspection of SUPER CARDED after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER CARDED will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of GO DAN GO after the race did not show any significant findings. CHEERFUL CITY and ELEGANCE DESIRE were sent for sampling.
