Racing Incident Report

While being paraded behind the barriers, OSCAR PRINCE made contact with a running rail. OSCAR PRINCE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After being loaded, TIBIDABO became fractious and broke open the front gate of its stall. After travelling a short distance, TIBIDABO was restrained and returned to the Start. The Veterinary Officer reported that TIBIDABO was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, TIBIDABO will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. STORM’S DESTINY was slow to begin. In the early and middle stages, SPEED AND GOLD travelled wide and without cover and after the 1200 Metres was ridden forward to obtain a position closer to the rail. Near the 900 Metres, JUNGLE TREASURE commenced to give ground abruptly and when doing so shifted in near the 850 Metres, causing ROCKALOT to be checked. Also hampered by JUNGLE TREASURE as it weakened back through the field were OCTAGONAL CANYON and SOLITAIRE. A veterinary inspection of JUNGLE TREASURE, which finished distanced, after the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and also an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Having in mind the stage of the race that JUNGLE TREASURE weakened back through the field abruptly and that the Veterinary Officer had detected both a heart irregularity and blood in the trachea, the Stewards ruled that prior to being permitted to race again, JUNGLE TREASURE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a series of official barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Near the 850 Metres, CENTENNIAL SMILE was steadied away from the heels of OSCAR PRINCE. Near the 650 Metres, ROCKALOT was steadied away from the heels of GALAXEE which shifted out. At the 200 Metres, SOLITAIRE was crowded for room inside SPEED AND GOLD which shifted in. In this incident, SOLITAIRE shifted in and bumped TIBIDABO which became unbalanced. ALWAYS AHEAD, which for some distance prior to this had been awkwardly placed close to the heels of TIBIDABO, was hampered in consequence. A veterinary inspection of ROCKALOT after the race did not show any significant findings. NOBLE TWINS, GALAXEE and STORM’S DESTINY were sent for sampling.
