Racing Incident Report
LUCKY CHEVALIER, which was fractious in the barriers, will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test before being allowed to race again. RACING SPORT was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, MOCHI was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. After being taken across behind runners shortly after the start, AMBITIOUS OWNER was ridden along approaching the 1100 Metres to obtain a more forward position. However, due to RACING SPORT maintaining its position to is inside, AMBITIOUS OWNER was shifted across behind that runner to obtain cover after the 1000 Metres. Near the 100 Metres, HOT PEPPER momentarily raced in restricted room inside ALL VICTORY which shifted in. Close to the finishing line, SHIBALA was steadied away from the heels of ALL VICTORY which got its head on the side and shifted out. MOCHI hung out in the Straight. Throughout the race, I SMELL MONEY travelled wide and without cover. After the race, G Cheyne (CLASSIC FIGURE) reported that the horse coughed on a number of occasions when pulling up. A veterinary inspection of CLASSIC FIGURE after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CLASSIC FIGURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of PULITZER, which finished tailed out, after the race revealed that the horse was lame in its right hind leg. The performance of PULITZER was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, PULITZER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the performance of LUCKY CHEVALIER, W C Marwing stated that after being fractious in the barriers, LUCKY CHEVALIER was leaning against the outside of its stall as the start was effected and because of this lost ground. He said that in the early stages LUCKY CHEVALIER raced greenly and approaching the 1100 Metres shifted out away from the heels of FASTPLUS MASTER. He said LUCKY CHEVALIER continued to race greenly and was inclined to lay away from horses on its inside throughout the race. He said shortly after entering into the Straight he was able to shift LUCKY CHEVALIER out into clear running and when he placed the horse under full pressure, it finished off the race only fairly. A veterinary inspection of SHIBALA, LUCKY CHEVALIER and RACING SPORT after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SPICY SHRIMP had lost its left front plate and that FASTPLUS MASTER had lost its right front plate. SHIBALA, ALL VICTORY and HOT PEPPER were sent for sampling.
<24/1/2011 Additional Veterinary Report > CLASSIC FIGURE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. CLASSIC FIGURE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A Lee this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. As previously advised, CLASSIC FIGURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
