Racing Incident Report

After being loaded, EPEE DE HUA became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, EPEE DE HUA will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. FANTASTISCH and WELL DONE began awkwardly. Passing the 1400 Metres, CHAIN WIN proved difficult to settle. After the 1200 Metres, EVER KING got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of DAILY DOUBLE. At the 500 Metres, BINGO KEY was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOLDEN BOY. DAILY DOUBLE, which was following, was inconvenienced as a consequence. Then near the 400 Metres, DAILY DOUBLE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BAYVIEW GREYSLEW. The performances of CHAIN WIN and WELL DONE, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CHAIN WIN and WELL DONE will both be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned, Y T Cheng (EPEE DE HUA) stated that in the early stages he was left very wide and without cover. He said for this reason near the 1100 Metres he allowed his mount to stride into a more forward position. He said after the 1000 Metres EPEE DE HUA was racing in a three wide position outside the leaders, namely, CHAIN WIN and WELL DONE. He said although it was available for him to continue to push EPEE DE HUA to improve its position, given that the horse had done some work in the early stages and the fact that it was travelling comfortably, he did not feel that racing three wide at this time of the race was a disadvantage for the horse. He said therefore he elected to remain racing in this position. A veterinary inspection of BAYVIEW GREYSLEW after the race did not show any significant findings. BINGO KEY, FANTASTISCH and DAILY DOUBLE were sent for sampling.
<9/5/2011 Additional Veterinary Report> The Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison reported that BINGO KEY was swollen in its left front leg with a cut on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, BINGO KEY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
