Racing Incident Report
SAME SAME began very awkwardly, resulting in its rider, Apprentice M L Yeung, becoming badly unbalanced. INFALLIBLE CHOICE was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, ASIAN CITRUS was crowded for room between DRAGON CHOICE which shifted out and SUPER SURVEYS which was taken in slightly by CHAIN WIN. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, SEIZE THE DAY, MOUNT SURPLUS and RAISING SUN failed to muster speed. Rounding the Home Turn, FORTUNE BUNNY became unbalanced after being bumped by SEIZE THE DAY. Over the concluding stages, INFALLIBLE CHOICE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SUPER SURVEYS which itself was hampered when taken out by SEIZE THE DAY (Apprentice C Y Ho). Apprentice Ho was advised to ensure that he does his utmost to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. Because of this, SUPER SURVEYS and INFALLIBLE CHOICE were not able to be properly tested in the run to the line. Throughout the race, RAISING SUN travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the improved performance of DRAGON CHOICE, Trainer A Lee stated that the principal reason for the horse’s performance tonight was having drawn barrier 1 which afforded the horse an ideal trip behind the leader, CHAIN WIN. He said DRAGON CHOICE was having only its second start in Class 5 tonight and at its first start in the grade had not been suited over 1650 Metres on the All Weather surface. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of VINSANTO, B Doyle stated that although the horse was obliged to race three wide and without cover throughout, VINSANTO came under pressure as far as 600 Metres from home to maintain its position. He said he rode VINSANTO along rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, however, VINSANTO weakened noticeably over the final 200 Metres. A veterinary inspection of VINSANTO after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea. A veterinary inspection of CHAIN WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. VINSANTO, DRAGON CHOICE and MAGIC KING were sent for sampling.
<9/6/2011 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that SUPER SURVEYS had sustained an injury to its right front suspensory ligament on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER SURVEYS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
