Racing Incident Report
CAI BAO IN was slow to begin. HO HO DASH was slow to begin and then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. ENJOY THE FUN began awkwardly and shortly after the start bumped FERRABOSCO which shifted in after being brushed by NEW ASIA RISING. Passing the 400 Metres, SPLENDID CHAMPION was momentarily held up for clear running behind KOENIGSBERG and BOLD TACK. Inside the final 100 Metres, ISTIDE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of RIGHT TIMING. The performances of HO HO DASH and BOLD TACK, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HO HO DASH and BOLD TACK will both be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. C K Tong (BOLD TACK) reported that his saddle shifted back prior to the Home Turn. When questioned regarding his riding of RIGHT TIMING rounding the Home Turn and at the entrance to the Straight, D Beadman stated that it was explained to him that RIGHT TIMING is one-paced and for this reason it was his intention to shift RIGHT TIMING to the outside of runners into clear running at the earliest opportunity. He said rounding the Home Turn he was following FORTUNE BRAVO which was racing to the inside of FULL VALUE. He said prior to entering the Straight he directed RIGHT TIMING out to obtain a run to the outside of FULL VALUE and to the inside of ENJOY THE FUN. He said as he did this FULL VALUE got its head on the side and shifted out which resulted in a run becoming available between that horse and FORTUNE BRAVO. He said however that as he had committed RIGHT TIMING to shift to the outside of FULL VALUE, he continued to allow the horse to obtain running to the outside of FULL VALUE. He added after obtaining a tight run between that horse and ENJOY THE FUN prior to the 400 Metres, RIGHT TIMING was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of FULL VALUE shortly after the 400 Metres when that horse continued to shift out. He said this resulted in RIGHT TIMING making contact with ENJOY THE FUN and becoming unbalanced. He said after this RIGHT TIMING had clear and uninterrupted running and was able to be fully tested in the run to the finish. D Beadman was advised that whilst RIGHT TIMING obtained clear and uninterrupted running after the 400 Metres and that the eventual winner, CAI BAO IN, had come from behind RIGHT TIMING to win the race, nonetheless he should ensure that wherever possible he avails himself of runs as they become available rather than committing himself prematurely to a course of action and that he keeps his mind open to all available options to obtain clear running at all times. A veterinary inspection of FULL VALUE after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of FERRABOSCO after the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being permitted to race again, FERRABOSCO will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CAI BAO IN and RIGHT TIMING were sent for sampling.
