Racing Incident Report
On arrival at the Start, RIYADH had its left front plate refitted. RIYADH was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
MIZZEN GREY was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, OCEAN BRIGHT was crowded for room between ULTIMATE POWER and YOUNG TALENT which shifted in abruptly at the start.
From wide barriers, RIYADH and AMBASSADORSHIP were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
For some distance in the early stages, FUN FASTER proved very difficult to settle and over-raced.
Passing the 1000 Metres, RIYADH got its head up and raced ungenerously when momentarily crowded for room inside GARLIC BOY.
Then passing the 900 Metres, RIYADH was steadied away from the heels of GARLIC BOY (T Angland) which shifted in when not properly clear. T Angland was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
Approaching the 900 Metres, AMBASSADORSHIP got its head up on a number of occasions and proved very difficult to settle when being steadied away from the heels of OCEAN BRIGHT.
Near the 300 Metres, GIANTS SERAPIS was crowded for room between ULTIMATE POWER and ALP’S GLORY, both of which shifted ground.
Also near the 300 Metres, M Chadwick (ALP’S GLORY) momentarily dropped his right rein.
After the 300 Metres, Apprentice C Y Ho (YOUNG TALENT) dropped his right rein. Apprentice Ho was then not able to properly regather the use of this rein after it became entangled around his right hand.
Near the 250 Metres, AMBASSADORSHIP was shifted to the outside of RIYADH after being disappointed for running between that horse and YOUNG TALENT which shifted out.
OCEAN BRIGHT was not able to obtain clear running until approaching the 100 Metres.
Throughout the race, GIANTS SERAPIS travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that GIANTS SERAPIS had blood present at its left nostril and an endoscopic examination confirmed it to be a bleeder.
GARLIC BOY and FLORAL MAN were sent for sampling.
