Racing Incident Report
DEHERE’S THE LOVE began only fairly and then was crowded for room between QUANTUM POWER which initially shifted out and SUNSHINE KID which shifted in.
VIVA DOLPHIN was also tardy to begin.
In the early part of the Straight, O’HALO got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure.
Throughout the race, WHAT A HEART travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.
The performance of NAZAKAT’S LAD, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, NAZAKAT’S LAD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUNSHINE KID, O Doleuze stated that SUNSHINE KID normally begins very well in its races. He said tonight SUNSHINE KID began only fairly and then despite being ridden along in the early stages did not show early speed. He said he was obliged to continually ride SUNSHINE KID along throughout the race in an endeavour to have it maintain its position, however, SUNSHINE KID did not travel well at any stage of the race and was always under pressure. He added in the Straight SUNSHINE KID was particularly disappointing in the manner in which it gave ground rapidly to finish tailed off. O Doleuze stated that the only explanation he could offer for the horse’s disappointing performance is that, in his opinion, it is able to travel more comfortably when positioned outside of runners rather than when obliged to race amongst horses as was the case this evening. Trainer C W Chang stated that he had not experienced any setbacks with SUNSHINE KID’s preparation leading into tonight’s race. He said he was not able to offer any explanation for the horse’s performance other that he shared Jockey Doleuze’s view that SUNSHINE KID is better suited when able to race outside of horses. A veterinary inspection of SUNSHINE KID immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SUNSHINE KID was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUNSHINE KID will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, Apprentice K C Ng stated that HINYUEN PALADIN’s action in the early stages did not feel comfortable. A veterinary inspection of HINYUEN PALADIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of HINYUEN PALADIN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HINYUEN PALADIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
DEHERE’S THE LOVE, EXPEDITE and STAR OF WAI BO were sent for sampling.
