Racing Incident Report

MY GOAL began awkwardly and shortly after the start was bumped by KING BROTHER which shifted out. MY GOAL then shifted out away from that horse, resulting in TOP ACT being crowded for room inside SAFARI MAGIC. In this incident, SAFARI MAGIC became unbalanced after being bumped by TOP ACT.
WINNING NOVEL and HAPPY MOMENTS bumped at the start.
MIGHTY EQUUS lost its left hind plate at the start.
From the outside barrier, SWEET BEAN was taken across behind runners in the early stages.
In the early stages, UNIQUE JOYFUL got its head up on a number of occasions when proving difficult to settle.
Approaching the 1300 Metres, BEST JADE TRIUMPH and JUN JU bumped.
Making the first turn near the 900 Metres, BEST JADE TRIUMPH raced tight between WINNING NOVEL and AMAZING ALWAYS.
Rounding the Home Turn, SAFARI MAGIC raced tight between SEMPITERNAL and MY GOAL which shifted out.
Passing the 500 Metres, TOP ACT and AMAZING ALWAYS bumped as TOP ACT attempted to shift out into clear running.
Throughout the race, SEMPITERNAL travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, Trainer A T Millard and T Berry, the rider of TOP ACT, 4th placegetter, examined the video to establish whether there were grounds for an objection against AMAZING ALWAYS, 3rd placegetter. After Mr Millard and Jockey Berry examined the relevant videos and subsequent to them deciding to formally lodge a protest/objection on behalf of the connections of TOP ACT, weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge due to a failure in process. Mr Millard and Jockey Berry were advised that due to weighed-in having been declared, the protest/objection was unable to be proceeded with, however, both parties were informed that the protest/objection against AMAZING ALWAYS would not have been successful for the following reasons. The Stewards determined that near the 300 Metres TOP ACT was steadied when disappointed after attempting to proceed into a tight run between SEMPITERNAL and AMAZING ALWAYS which shifted in after being bumped on the hindquarters by TOP ACT. As TOP ACT had not established running between SEMPITERNAL and AMAZING ALWAYS, there were no grounds for an objection being sustained against AMAZING ALWAYS in respect of this incident. The Stewards further found that near the 200 Metres TOP ACT momentarily raced tight between AMAZING ALWAYS which shifted in slightly and SEMPITERNAL which also shifted out marginally. The Stewards advised the parties that the inconvenience caused to TOP ACT was only momentary and that the crowding had been as a result of both AMAZING ALWAYS and SEMPITERNAL shifting ground. Finally, in determining the matter, the Stewards would have also been cognizant of the margin of a half length between AMAZING ALWAYS and TO ACT at the end of the race. The Stewards will undertake a review of the current arrangements relative to the lodging of protests/objections to ensure that these circumstances do not occur again in the future.
A veterinary inspection of FIVE STEP and SAFARI MAGIC immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
TOP ACT, MIGHTY EQUUS and MY GOAL were sent for sampling.
