Racing Incident Report
KA YING STAR shifted out at the start and bumped ELUSIVE STATE.
ELUSIVE STATE and CITRON SPIRIT were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
The Stewards inquired into Z Purton’s riding of BEAUTY GENERATION in the early stages with evidence also taken from K Teetan, the rider of KING YING STAR. The Stewards accepted that when being ridden along in the early stages BEAUTY GENERATION got its head on the side and lay out with its head directed in and also at this stage not affecting the running of KA YING STAR. It was further found that after racing relatively truly for a short distance, BEAUTY GENERATION shifted out passing the 1500 Metres and particularly approaching the 1400 Metres. This resulted in KA YING STAR getting its head on the side and shifting out away from BEAUTY GENERATION as that horse continued to shift out. After considering all the evidence, Z Purton was advised that the Stewards had concerns that a more concerted effort was not made to straighten BEAUTY GENERATION near the 1500 Metres to prevent it from shifting out and causing KA YING STAR to shift out wider. Z Purton was severely reprimanded and told that there is an expectation that horses remain racing truly and that riders ensure that they make every endeavour to prevent their mounts from shifting ground and causing interference to other runners.
BEAUTY GENERATION, WAIKUKU and KA YING STAR were sent for sampling.
