1 8 NOBLE HEART (CC355) F Coetzee B1 On jumping was checked and soon recovered to race in a prominent position on inner through to straight. Under pressure 300 M out and responded well to fend off late charge from 2nd placegetter to win narrowly.
2 3 EXULTATION (BV223) D Dunn -- Jumped awkwardly and soon settled in worse than midfield on rail. Ridden along at home turn and made up little ground. Shifted to the middle to make its run and ran home strongly to miss the winner narrowly.
3 11 KING OF SPADES (CC056) A Delpech B Began awkwardly and pushed along to race in midfield or better around 2 wide. Near the 600 M went forward to be 1L off leader 3 wide on straightening. Kept on well in straight but just failed to match speed with the 1st pair.
4 10 PRO JOY (CD160) C Williams B- From an outside draw was immediately steadied to the rear section around 2 wide. Ridden along and made headway from the outside at home turn. Kept on fairly in straight without threatening the placegetters.
5 9 SHINING GEM (CA180) B Prebble -- Broke well and soon raced in a handy position on rail. Near the 600 M whilst attempting to improve position was checked when crowded for room. Ran on fairly in early part of straight but became one-pace inside final 100 M.
6 4 HIGHLAND DAWN (CC138) O Doleuze B Broke fairly and niggled along to race in a handy position 2 wide. Near the 700 M went forward to race around 1/2L off pace. Only kept on evenly when asked 300 M out and weakened slightly inside final 150 M.
7 5 LUCKY SUPERSTAR (CA270) G Mosse TT Slow to begin and soon raced in a rearward position 2 wide through to straight. Under pressure 300 M out and made up little ground inside final 150 M to be closest at finish.
8 2 CHECK MATE (CC259) G Schofield B On jumping was checked and soon recovered to race in midfield 2 wide. Switched wide on straightening to obtain clear running. Kept on fairly in straight and near the 50 M was unable to find running.
9 12 DANEFACTOR (CA006) S Dye -- From the widest draw was soon steadied to the rear section closer to the rail through to straight. Only able to run on evenly to the line when asked 300 M out.
10 6 STEPS AHEAD (CD257) H W Lai B Began fairly from wide draw and ridden along to take lead on rail whilst racing keenly in the early stages. No extra in straight, headed near the 200 M mark and steadily faded thereafter.
11 1 SIGHT CHAMPION (CC151) R Fradd B Began fairly and soon settled in midfield or worse 2 wide. Hard ridden along at home turn to maintain position. Failed to make any impression in straight.
12 7 WYNDHAM PROFIT (CD406) Y T Cheng B Tardy start and soon raced in midfield or worse on rail. Commenced to give ground rounding the home turn and tailed out in straight.
