3 12 WHIPLASH (CG072) C K Tong -- Fastest to begin, crossed easily from wide alley to take spot on rails, restrained to race behind leader, had good run following speed 2Ls away, angled out on turning, chased gamely in straight to fight out 3 way finish.
4 13 LUCKY DRAGON (CD322) M Odendaal TT Bounced out well, restrained to find cover, planted 3/4 wide in midfield 7Ls from speed, always working hard, began to make ground on turn, kept coming in straight to be closest at finish. Big run. (Inquiry into riding tactics.)
5 4 SUMMERVILLE POWER (CD398) H W Lai B Began well, prominent early and slotted into prime 1 out 1 back position, forced to race 3 wide without cover, from 800 M, 3 to 4Ls away, swung a little wide into straight, stuck on well in straight without threatening winner.
6 1 CONESTOGA (CE313) M Nunes -- Fast into stride, held forward position 3 back on fence 4Ls away, angled into 2 wide spot at 800 M, 3Ls down on turning and came with strong run at 350 M, battled to finish race off over latter stages.
7 11 CIRCULAR MACHINE (CG049) Y T Cheng -- Standard beginning, pressed forward to take closer order, raced 5Ls off pace in 2 wide spot, unbalanced at 1200 M, had easy run throughout, amongst horses on turning, kept steadily making ground but unable to make real impression.
8 8 BOLD WIN (CE282) B Prebble B1 Jumped with them, unable to hold forward spot and settled worse than midfield, raced 2 wide 8Ls away in middle stages, made 3 wide run on turn, closed off fairly without looking likely before being checked at 100 M. (Lost plate.)
9 2 WINNING BULLET (CE260) R Fradd -- Slow to begin, lost ground when steadied, settled towards rear 9 to 10Ls from leaders, raced on rails not spending much to turn, again inconvenienced in straight at 200 M, closed off evenly thereafter. (Lost plate.)
10 7 GOOD PARTNER (CE221) G Mosse B1/TT1 Amongst them early, lost position when tightened at 1200 M, raced 3 wide in midfield 5 to 6Ls away, niggled along on bend, back and amongst horses on turning, lacked usual turn of foot and only plodded to line.
