9 BYRON (CD275) D Whyte -- Fastest into stride, didn't have pace to match first few, camped off even speed 2 wide 2 to 3Ls back, stalked leaders on bend, made challenge at 300 M, hit lead passing 200 M and kept holding with something extra.
1 EXPECTATIONS (CD078) O Doleuze SR Evenly away, slotted into midfield role 2 wide 4Ls off speed, had nice trail behind eventual winner or circle, came 3 wide on turning and threatened at 250 M, fought hard but no match for winner late.
12 FAT CHOY FOREVER (CD111) C W Wong -- Began nicely, ridden along to challenge for front, always pressing inside horse and held a 1/2L lead throughout, kept a reasonable speed on to bend, still there at 300 M but just couldn't go with first two last furlong.
10 GOLDEN CARE (CD188) C K Tong B/XB/TT Standard break, ridden up to take closer order behind speed on rails, had run of race 3Ls back trailing first two, pushed along on turning, lacked an extra gear but kept finding to make frame.
11 WINNING SUCCESS (CE312) Y T Cheng TT Out with rest, caught out and forced to race 3 wide with cover 5 to 6Ls back, had a trail but covered ground on bend, came to middle and steadily made ground in straight doing best work late to be nearest on line.
2 TCHAIKOVSKY (CE030) B Prebble B Reasonable break, soon drove through to challenge for lead, retained inside and shared lead, kept a solid speed on and was shaded but the outside horse to turn into straight, there to 200 M but weakened out late.
7 GREAT GUY (CH112) K L Chui TT Well enough to begin, held spot on rails around midfield 4 to 5Ls back, checked at 700 M and lost ground, under pressure on bend, gave a start but got going again to make some late ground.
3 NOBLE MAN (CC099) K S Yu -- Away with rest, held a position behind midfield 2 wide before slotting to rails 5Ls back, had an easy enough time to bend, made only moderate headway when switched out in straight. Battled on surface.
6 FLY HIGH (CH126) D Nikolic -- Not a sparkling jumpout, did press on but posted 3 to 4 wide throughout without cover, always working 4Ls back on bend, found little when asked in straight just finishing at same speed to line.
4 SUNNY KING (CH105) F Coetzee XB/H2/TT Average jumpout, lacked early speed, raced in rearward division 2 wide 8Ls off front runners, pushed along and made some ground on turn, struggled in straight and made little impact.
5 NOBLE CRUSADER (CD286) H W Lai TT Jumped with them but couldn't find early toe, back with last few on rails 8Ls away, not really travelling throughout, gave a big start on the bend and failed to run on over concluding stages.
8 BOBO WIN (CC238) K W Tsui -- Moderate break and failed to muster early, sat last 9 to 10Ls from frontrunners, always uncomfortable and battling at rear, still last turning, made no impact.
