2 10 JACKPOT DELIGHT (CJ101) C Soumillon B No real pace and allowed to position 10Ls back in running line, suited by solid tempo and travelled comfortably throughout, held up at 400 M, dashed sharply when clear levelling up at 200 M but beaten by a better horse.
3 1 GREEN BIRDIE (CH245) O Doleuze -- Taken back from a wide alley, ended up well back 15Ls from speed, aided by fast sections, gradually made run from 400 M, closed well from rear on turning but set a huge task peaking on efforts last 100 M.
4 6 AMBITIOUS GENERAL (CJ066) E Saint-Martin CC1/TT- Slow into stride, positioned behind midfield 9Ls of fast pace, saved ground and suited by speed, improved between horses on bend, continued making ground and did best work when clear from 250 M to make frame.
5 2 NEVER LOOK BACK (CJ043) G Mosse B1 Reared on jumping, ended up 12Ls away behind midfield, suited by fast pace, had a reasonable run in mid-section, still had job to do on turning, made even headway between horses last 300 M to be closest on line.
6 5 GREAT GUY (CH112) K L Chui TT Away nicely, slotted in on rails however ended up 5Ls back in 4th when pace went on, had to cart rest up but saved ground on circle, made a useful run at 300 M but didn't run out trip and failed to factor late.
7 4 DAO DAO (CH308) D Whyte -- Well enough away, pressed on to settle 5 to 6Ls away in 2 wide line, had a fair run but forced to follow a strong pace, pushed along to turn, made brief claims at 400 M but had no extra last 300 M. (Checked on line.)
8 12 WIN PRACTITIONER (CG180) B Prebble B Even break, settled closer than expected 7Ls away on rails, helped by fast tempo, saved ground on bend with an ideal run in, held up at 300 M, didn't let down as usual and struggled last furlong.
9 7 FEARLESS (CH301) B Fayd'herbe B1 No early pace, allowed to settle 15Ls away at rear, helped by solid sections, still well back in impossible spot on turning in, made some progress past beaten runners. (Jockey reported abnormal breathing.)
10 9 HORACE'S CHOICE (CH169) G Boss H1/TT Standard jump, settled behind midfield 8Ls off lead, helped by solid speed at top end, steadied at 500 M, made a quick burst on turning and briefly threatened but didn't see out journey fading out from 250 M.
11 13 VIVA HONG KONG (CJ097) D Beadman CP1/TT Began with move purpose, held spot outside leader in 3 way battle, ran 16 to 8 in 2 secs faster than standard, eventually took hold at 1000 M, ridden along thereafter, failed to finish off and weakened badly in straight.
12 8 LUCKYME (CH012) Y T Cheng TT First to hit ground, led easily however pressured throughout, set fast tempo with 1600 to 800 secs faster than standard for a Derby, still under siege on bend, found little on turning and quickly lost touch late.
13 11 LU YUE (CH278) O Peslier B/H Out with them, pressed forward from wide gate, 3 wide no cover, engaged in 3 way pace battle running 1600 M to 800 M 2 secs faster than standard, still challenging on bend, dropped out quickly after hard run. (See Racing Incidents.)
