Racing Incident Report
Whilst parading, it was noted the tongue tie on HIGHLAND LEGEND had loosened. This was refitted before the horse proceeded to the Start. After arriving at the Start, E Legrix (HONEST DRAGON) reported to the Veterinary Surgeon that he was of the opinion the horse had not worked down well and was not stretching out in front as it should. The Veterinary Surgeon had the horse trotted up, was also of the view it was stiff in front and in his opinion was not suitable to race. Accordingly HONEST DRAGON was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, HONEST DRAGON will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and must pass an official veterinary examination. GOLDEN DUKE was slowly away. CITI CENTRE left the gates awkwardly. On jumping, SIR GALWAY shifted in abruptly and made contact with WONDERFUL WINNERS. In the early stages, THE GRAND ROOF pulled hard, threw its head about and raced ungenerously. Approaching the 1000 Metres, WONDERFUL WINNERS became unbalanced and dipped. About the 1000 Metres, GOLDEN DUKE was steadied when momentarily crowded by TOP LIGHT. Approaching the 200 Metres, CITI CENTRE was steadied and shifted out to find running. When questioned, G Mossé (ROUND THE WORLD) said he had been instructed to find cover with the horse if possible. He said however from a good draw ROUND THE WORLD left the gates well, immediately got on the bridle and he was of the view to have overly restrained the horse into a position which he had been asked to ride would not have been in the best interests of ROUND THE WORLD. He therefore allowed ROUND THE WORLD to run along in a more forward position than was planned. He went on to say in the Straight ROUND THE WORLD hung in. The explanations submitted by G Mossé were accepted. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said WONDERFUL WINNERS had sustained a laceration to its near hind cannon and also marked the outer portion of its off hind heel. Before the horse can race again, WONDERFUL WINNERS will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
