Racing Incident Report

HORACE'S HORSE bounded in the air at the start, bumped the outside of its stall and consequently was slow to begin. On jumping, BOXING DAY shifted out and brushed I DELIVER. EMPIRE COURT was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was bumped by FLAMENCO STAR which shifted in. NEVER HEADED began awkwardly and shifted out. Making the turn near the 1300 Metres, NEVER HEADED and FLAMENCO STAR were hampered and carried wider by HORACE'S HORSE which became unbalanced and shifted out away from the heels of WISHES. At the 1000 Metres, NEVER HEADED became unbalanced and shifted out away from the heels of DANCING SOUND which commenced to give ground. After this, NEVER HEADED was obliged to race wide and without cover and making the turn at the 600 Metres commenced to hang out. After the 1000 Metres, DANCING SOUND (W C Marwing) gave ground quickly and at the 600 Metres when being eased down hit the running rail and fell. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported DANCING SOUND had bled heavily from both nostrils. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, I DELIVER was steadied when disappointed for running inside BOXING DAY. GOLDEN SPIRIT, which was following, was steadied in consequence. For some distance approaching the 400 Metres, FLAMENCO STAR was awkwardly placed inside the heels of HORACE'S HORSE. At the 400 Metres, GOLDEN SPIRIT was steadied and shifted to the outside of I DELIVER to go forward. Approaching the 200 Metres, I DELIVER was disappointed for running between BOXING DAY and SMART WIN. To obtain clear running, I DELIVER was shifted to the inside of BOXING DAY near the 200 Metres. After the 100 Metres, EMPIRE COURT, which was commencing to close the race off strongly, when being shifted out to obtain clear running was steadied away from the heels of SMART WIN which was giving ground. Over the concluding stages, FLAMENCO STAR did not obtain clear running between WISHES and HORACE'S HORSE. NEVER HEADED was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, NEVER HEADED was examined by the Veterinary Officer. An endoscopic examination was carried out. The Veterinary Officer reported the horse as a "roarer", but advised it has previously undergone corrective surgery for this condition. GOLDEN SPIRIT, BOXING DAY and ACE ACADEMY were sent for sampling.
