Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, it was noted CHINA CAT had blood in its mouth. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said it had sustained a small ulcer on its tongue and in his opinion was suitable to race. CHINA CAT proved very difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, CHINA CAT will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. Shortly after the start, TUSITALA, BARRACUDA and FANTASTIC WIN were momentarily crowded for room inside THISTLEJADE which shifted in. Making the first turn, OPTIC FRIENDLY was crowded for room between FLORAL DANCER and FANTASTIC WIN which got its head on the side and shifted away from the running rail. At the 900 Metres, FANTASTIC WIN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of WONDERFUL MOMENTS. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, BARRACUDA was crowded for room inside OPTIC FRIENDLY which was racing tight inside FANTASTIC WIN which shifted in slightly. Making the Home Turn, WONDERFUL MOMENTS hung out. In the early part of the Straight, FLORAL DANCER, which was shifting out in an endeavour to find clear running, was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of FANTASTIC WIN. After the 200 Metres, BARRACUDA, which was giving ground, was steadied when BIEN BIEN HEART improved into a narrow run on the inside of FANTASTIC HORSE. Also after the 200 Metres, OPTIC FRIENDLY, which had been having some difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of TUSITALA which was giving ground. FANTASTIC WIN was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of FANTASTIC WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. FORTUNE DANCER and STEP FORWARD were sent for sampling.
