Racing Incident Report

WING FOOT was withdrawn on raceday morning on veterinary grounds (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, WING FOOT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HEALTHY HEART and FORTUNE ALL TIMES began awkwardly and bumped the inside gates of their stalls. SMILEY WIN was slow to begin. DYNAMIC COMBO bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, WINNING ATTORNEY, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when close to the heels of ROYAL VICTORY. DYNAMIC COMBO made the turn at the 800 Metres awkwardly. After the 800 Metres, WIN FORTUNE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PEPPERONI which steadied as it reached the lead. Also after the 800 Metres, FUN CRUISER commenced to over-race and became unbalanced when awkwardly placed between FORTUNE ALL TIMES and ROYAL VICTORY. In the Straight, HEALTHY HEART was inclined to lay in and for a considerable distance had PEPPERONI racing tight on its inside. After the 200 Metres, Apprentice H W Lai, the rider of HEALTHY HEART which at this time shifted in, stopped riding and straightened his mount. F Coetzee (MR GENKI) explained as in the past the horse was again fractious after being boxed. He said the intention was always to ride MR GENKI quietly because in the past it had shown itself to be a difficult ride and further he had been instructed to leave space between himself and the runners in front so that if the pace steadied he would not have to come onto the mouth of MR GENKI. He said MR GENKI began awkwardly, threw its head about, shifted out and made contact with COSMO STAR. He said as a result of this he became unbalanced in the saddle, he then commenced to shift MR GENKI across behind runners and to ensure the horse did not run freely endeavoured to again steady the horse which at this time got its head up. He said after this MR GENKI did not properly relax for him despite racing at the rear of the field. He said prior to straightening he commenced to improve his position and shifted to the outside of the field, then in the Straight the horse got its head on the side and was inclined to shift out, because of this he changed the whip into his left hand. He said MR GENKI closed the race off in his opinion fairly. FORTUNE ALL TIMES was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE ALL TIMES after the race did not show any significant findings. MR GENKI, ROYAL VICTORY and HEALTHY HEART were sent for sampling. After the race, WINNING EMPEROR was scoped at the trainer's request. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea and an ulcerated and displaced soft palate. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING EMPEROR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
