Racing Incident Report

On jumping, COULDN'T CARE LESS was bumped by GOT IT GOOD which shifted in. From the outside gate, PROPELLOR with the intention of being ridden in the rear was momentarily steadied and shifted across behind runners. Near the winning post on the first occasion, COULDN'T CARE LESS and MR BEAUTIFUL bumped. Making the Home Turn, HAPPY ALL AROUND was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GLORIOUS RHYTHM. After the 200 Metres, ISLAND SPIRIT, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded for room between HAPPY ALL AROUND which shifted in away from MR BEAUTIFUL and CHINOOK which shifted out. No action was taken. Throughout the race, STEP FORWARD raced wide and without cover. When questioned, W M Lai (KING OF SPADES) said the horse began well tonight and obtained a more forward position than it often does. He said approaching the 600 Metres he was in a three wide position with cover behind STEP FORWARD in what he believed was an evenly run race. He said having in mind KING OF SPADES usually closes its races off strongly and it was carrying a light weight, he decided to shift to a four wide position passing the 600 Metres and commence making his run in the hope he would be able to improve around horses to be prominently positioned on straightening to make his run down the outside of the field. He said in the Straight when being ridden out KING OF SPADES hung in, continued to find the line, but did not show its usual dash. The explanation of W M Lai was reported. PROPELLOR and HAPPY ALL AROUND were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of PROPELLOR and HAPPY ALL AROUND after the race did not show any significant findings. EXCELLENT BOY and GOT IT GOOD were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 22 December 2005)
PROPELLOR, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. PROPELLOR was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer T W Leung this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have to have an injury to the left eye. Before being allowed to race again, PROPELLOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
