Racing Incident Report

YELLOW DIAMOND bounded in the air at the start and was slow to begin. HAIL THE STORM was slow to begin. ROYAL DECREE, which was standing badly, began awkwardly. At the 1000 Metres, HIGHLILLI and GALLANT KNIGHT were steadied when crowded for room between ROYAL DECREE and YELLOW DIAMOND which shifted in slightly. C Williams (TCHAIKOVSKY) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of HELENE ELEGANCE, causing that horse to be checked. C Williams was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 27 January 2005 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 19 January 2005. In addition, C Williams was fined $25,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, ROYAL DECREE was steadied away from the heels of YELLOW DIAMOND. LOTZATOW was steadied and became unbalanced in consequence. For some distance near the 700 Metres, HAIL THE STORM raced tight inside the hindquarters of LOTZATOW. At the 700 Metres, ENRICHING got its head on the side and shifted wide on the track. After the 300 Metres, DANHERO, which was giving ground after having travelled wide throughout the race, was momentarily steadied as a result of making contact with GALLANT KNIGHT after being carried out by ROYAL DECREE which in turn was carried out by HAIL THE STORM. LOTZATOW was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LOTZATOW after the race did not show any significant findings. YELLOW DIAMOND and HAIL THE STORM were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 17 January 2005)
LOTZATOW, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. LOTZATOW was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer K L Man this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, LOTZATOW will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
