Racing Incident Report

HORACE'S HORSE began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped TELECOM SUPERBOSS. Near the 1100 Metres, CENAMIRA was steadied away from the heels of EVEREST which was carried in slightly by SOUTH CHINA NINETY. Shortly after this, EVEREST shifted out and bumped SOUTH CHINA NINETY. Near the 1000 Meters, LUCKY MONEY was checked away from the heels of RIGHT CHOICE which when being steadied to obtain a position with cover shifted in abruptly. No action was taken. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, TELECOM SUPERBOSS and HORACE'S HORSE bumped. Making the Home Turn, RIGHT CHOICE hung in. In the Straight, when giving ground, ENRICHING hung in. The performance of LUCKY MONEY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, LUCKY MONEY will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the improved performance of CENAMIRA, Mr Y O Wong, the trainer of the horse, said he had been somewhat disappointed with the horse's recent two runs. He said previously when racing at Happy Valley over 1650 Metres in January CENAMIRA had run in his opinion its best race, therefore it was decided that the horse should return to Happy Valley tonight. He said he had initially sort K S Yu out to ride CENAMIRA tonight as he had been the regular rider of the horse, however, when advised Jockey Yu would only be able to ride CENAMIRA with 2 lbs overweight, it was decided to engage W M Lai. Mr Wong said he had been satisfied with the riding of Jockey Yu in the previous runs of CENAMIRA. He said CENAMIRA had surgery performed on both knees last May to remove bone chips and because of this in his opinion the horse was suited by the rain affected going tonight. He added the reason why CENAMIRA which was rated 40 did not start in a Class 5 race over the same distance tonight was that he already had another stable runner to take part in that race. The explanation submitted by Mr Wong was accepted. RIGHT CHOICE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of RIGHT CHOICE after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPERSONIC, CENAMIRA and EVEREST were sent for sampling.
