Racing Incident Report
Prior to being presented in the Parade Ring, STEP FORWARD had its left hind plate replaced. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. FLYING PROFILE was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore foot). Before being allowed to race again, FLYING PROFILE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BEST CHOICE was slow to begin. MR BEAUTIFUL began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. As the gates opened, ROCKET WIN bounded in the air and lost ground. In the early stages, SOARING ANGEL was slow to muster speed and then travelled three wide and without cover. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, BEST CHOICE, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of PURPLE GOLD which itself at this time was coming back when close to the heels of LUCKY STALLION. At the 1300 Metres, MR BEAUTIFUL was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of PURPLE GOLD. After this, MR BEAUTIFUL proved difficult to settle. Near the 1100 Metres, FILEBO, which was travelling ungenerously, got its head on the side, shifted in and bumped the running rail. At the 900 Metres, BEST CHOICE and MR BEAUTIFUL were awkwardly placed inside the heels of STEP FORWARD. At the 400 Metres, FILEBO was steadied away from the heels of BEST CHOICE which at this time was carried out by MR BEAUTIFUL. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, ROCKET WIN had difficulty obtaining clear running and near the 150 Metres shifted to the outside of BARRACUDA to go forward. When shifting out, ROCKET WIN caused PURPLE GOLD to be carried wider which in turn caused slight inconvenience to STEP FORWARD which at this time was giving ground. No action was taken. In the Straight, FILEBO hung in and proved difficult to ride. LUCKY STALLION and ROCKET WIN were sent for sampling.
