Racing Incident Report

VIVA PATACA, which was standing with its head turned to the right, was slow to begin. GOOD PROFIT began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall, then shifted further and made contact with GOLDEN SUN. DYNAMIC FUN began awkwardly. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, GOODY hung out, got its head up and was checked away from the heels of BEST LUCK. For some distance after the 800 Metres, BEST LUCK proved difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FASHION JEWELLERY. Making the Home Turn, HELLO PRETTY hung out. For some distance after the 400 Metres, FASHION JEWELLERY was held up and unable to improve between TRIUMPHANT UNICORN and SHARKI. At the 300 Metres, GOODY was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of BEST LUCK which at this time shifted out. At the 200 Metres, FASHION JEWELLERY was disappointed for running between TRIUMPHANT UNICORN and SHARKI. FASHION JEWELLERY was then shifted towards the inside of TRIUMPHANT UNICORN in an endeavour to find clear running, however, was unable to do so and continued to be held up for the remainder of the race. As such, FASHION JEWELLERY was not tested. At the 150 Metres, LIBERAL'S KNIGHT was checked when disappointed for running between SHARKI which shifted out slightly and HELLO PRETTY (G Schofield) which shifted in. While the Stewards acknowledged SHARKI had contributed to this incident, they nonetheless severely reprimanded G Schofield and told him in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion. BEST LUCK, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of LIBERAL'S KNIGHT in consequence. After this, BEST LUCK raced in restricted room between LIBERAL'S KNIGHT and GOODY for the remainder of the race and as such was not ridden out as it normally would be. Throughout the race, GOLDEN SUN travelled wide and without cover. RAIDER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, RAIDER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse had bled from both nostrils. LIBERAL'S KNIGHT, HELLO PRETTY and TRIUMPHANT UNICORN were sent for sampling.
