Racing Incident Report

CHAMPION PIONEER and LUCKY MAN were slow to begin. LIFELINE PEGASUS was a little slow to begin and then was hard ridden to make up ground. JADE CHINA began awkwardly and made contact with LIFELINE PEGASUS, then shortly afterwards was momentarily steadied away from the heels of NAMJONG SKY. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, ACTIVE VALOUR failed to muster speed and got well back. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, CHAMPION PIONEER was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY MAN which at this time lost ground when awkwardly placed between NOBLE ZOOM and LIFELINE PEGASUS which initially shifted in away from FRONTIER and was then carried in further by that horse. No action was taken. Making the turn after the 700 Metres, JADE CHINA hung out. Making the Home Turn, TREASURE PLANET hung out. On straightening, ACTIVE VALOUR was steadied when held up and unable to improve between NAMJONG SKY and JADE CHINA. For some distance after straightening, CASH IN was steadied when unable to obtain clear running between CHAMPION PIONEER and NAMJONG SKY. Throughout the race, FRONTIER travelled wide and without cover. The performance of MR FLOODLIGHT, which finished at the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MR FLOODLIGHT will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. M Nunes (LIFELINE PEGASUS) said he was able to ride the horse in a forward position as instructed. He said LIFELINE PEGASUS travelled reasonably, however, came under pressure prior to straightening and did not respond to his riding. He said in his opinion the poor performance of LIFELINE PEGASUS was due to the horse not handling the All Weather surface at its first time of asking. LIFELINE PEGASUS and JADE CHINA were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LIFELINE PEGASUS after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, JADE CHINA was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, JADE CHINA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DEMINER and TREASURE PLANET were sent for sampling.
