Racing Incident Report

WIN FOR ALL began awkwardly, then shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room outside TATTENHALL DELIGHT which was carried out by SHINING DAY which itself began awkwardly and shifted ground. On jumping, ARROGANCE and SPLENDID SAILS were crowded for room inside VINCERE which began awkwardly and shifted in. From a wide gate, JOY TRUMPS was taken across behind runners. Making the first turn, MASTER ABLE was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ARROGANCE. Also making the first turn, JOY TRUMPS was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of TATTENHALL DELIGHT which momentarily shifted in. After the 1200 Metres, MASTER ABLE was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of SPLENDID SAILS. Near the 700 Metres, VINCERE was steadied away from the heels of SPLENDID SAILS. Some inconvenience was caused to JOY TRUMPS which was following. D Whyte (JOY TRUMPS) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 450 Metres he shifted his mount to the outside of SPLENDID SAILS when not clear of VINCERE, causing that horse to be hampered and become badly unbalanced. When VINCERE was hampered, inconvenience was caused to KAO AND MING which was racing on its outside. D Whyte was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 18 January 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 10 January 2007. In addition, D Whyte was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. For a considerable distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres, RAIN IN SPRING had difficulty obtaining clear running, after the 200 Metres shifted to the outside of DOUBLE PLEASURE and this caused some inconvenience to WIN FOR ALL which was giving ground. Near the 100 Metres, MASTER ABLE was steadied when crowded for room inside SHINING DAY which at this time shifted in. Throughout the race, SHINING DAY travelled wide and without cover, made the Home Turn awkwardly and shifted wider. CASH IN was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. MASTER ABLE and SPLENDID SAILS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, CASH IN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had bled from both nostrils. Also after the race, SPLENDID SAILS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SPLENDID SAILS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of MASTER ABLE after the race did not show any significant findings. TATTENHALL DELIGHT and SHINING DAY were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported VINCERE had lost its right front plate.
