Racing Incident Report

LE ROSSIGNOL was withdrawn on 22.3.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever). PACKING WINNER was withdrawn on 23.3.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, LE ROSSIGNOL and PACKING WINNER will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After being boxed, RICH FOR ALL became fractious and got its head down. RICH FOR ALL was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said after consulting A Delpech, the rider of the horse, in his opinion it was suitable to race. On jumping, RICH FOR ALL blundered. MAVERICK began awkwardly. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE failed to muster speed. Passing the 1200 Metres, CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE was steadied away from the heels of RICH FOR ALL which at this time steadied to allow SPACED to cross. On straightening, RICH FOR ALL was bumped on several occasions by SAFETY FIRST (D Nikolic) which at this time shifted to the outside of SPACED to obtain clear running. In this incident, the left elbow of D Nikolic came into contact with the body of A Delpech. D Nikolic was told whilst the Stewards appreciate competitive riding, there is a limit to how far one can go and he should ensure he does not extend his elbows away from his body unnecessarily. In the early part of the Straight, MUTUAL FUN had difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 250 Metres, CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE was shifted to the inside of MUTUAL FUN to obtain clear running. At the 200 Metres, LIFELINE RAPIDE, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded for room between FAIR WIN and RICH FOR ALL which shifted out after being bumped by MUTUAL FUN which when improving into a narrow run outside SAFETY FIRST was carried wider by that horse. No action was taken. Throughout the race, LIFELINE RAPIDE travelled wide and without cover. DANSOLDE and RICH FOR ALL were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DANSOLDE and RICH FOR ALL after the race did not show any significant findings. SAFETY FIRST and MAINLAND SHUTTLE were sent for sampling.
