Racing Incident Report

At declaration time, S K Sit was declared as the rider of both A-TACK and KINGSTON GLORY. It was established that S K Sit had a firm commitment to ride A-TACK. As such, the Stewards permitted K S Yu to be substituted as the rider of KINGSTON GLORY. For this declaration error, S K Sit was fined $2,000. CRUSH ON YOU and ZERO GRAVITY were slow to begin. BEAMING RIVER began awkwardly and got its head up. SUPER SPECIAL began awkwardly, was then ridden along to make up ground and after the 1000 Metres proved difficult to settle. In the early stages, LUCKY CORDELIA and A-TACK were taken across behind runners. At the 1000 Metres, BEAMING RIVER was steadied when awkwardly placed between CRUSH ON YOU and MAINLAND MASTER (O Doleuze) which shifted in when not properly clear. While the Stewards were satisfied O Doleuze stopped riding and endeavoured to straighten his mount, he was nonetheless reprimanded and told to do his utmost to prevent causing crowding to other runners. In the middle stages, BEAMING RIVER hung out, then after the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running inside SUPER SPECIAL. Near the 200 Metres, SUPER SPECIAL, which was closing the race off strongly, was steadied when having difficulty obtaining clear running between CRUSH ON YOU and DIAMOND FLYER which when commencing to give ground shifted in. For a considerable distance after the 200 Metres, SUNRISE LINING was held up and unable to improve when racing inside TIMBER CITY and ZERO GRAVITY which at this time was giving ground. In the Straight, MAJIN BUU hung in. Throughout the race, DIAMOND FLYER travelled wide and without cover. E Saint-Martin (ZERO GRAVITY) explained as this was the first occasion on which he had ridden the horse, he was unable to offer an explanation for its poor performance. He said the horse led as instructed and travelled fairly, however, when under pressure over the concluding stages gave ground. ZERO GRAVITY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, ZERO GRAVITY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ZERO GRAVITY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. O Doleuze said at no stage of the race did the horse feel comfortable in its action. He said MAINLAND MASTER was not able to obtain a position better than midfield. He said the horse did not show its usual speed, in the Straight hung in and was disappointing in the manner in which it closed the race off. MAINLAND MASTER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MAINLAND MASTER after the race did not show any significant findings. TRIUMPHANT GLORY and CRUSH ON YOU were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported CRUSH ON YOU had lost its left front plate.
