Racing Incident Report
After being boxed, SUPERB GAINS became fractious, reared, lunged forward and broke open the front gate of its stall. HOME TREASURE was slow to begin. SILVER BLAZE was slow to begin and then from the outside barrier was taken back in the early stages. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, HOME TREASURE was steadied away from the heels of FLYING COLOURS which lost ground while hanging out. After this, HOME TREASURE hung out. Also approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, DANZULU, which was over-racing and racing ungenerously, was checked to avoid the heels of BIG WINNER AGAIN (Apprentice K T Yeung) which when being shifted across to the lead steadied the tempo. SILVER BLAZE, which was following, was checked in consequence. After the 800 Metres, DANZULU, which continued to race ungenerously, was again checked away from the heels of BIG WINNER AGAIN which continued to steady the tempo of the race. Having in mind the manner in which DANZULU was racing, the Stewards considered in the circumstances it was appropriate for Apprentice Yeung to be severely reprimanded and told he must not endeavour to steady the tempo of races in a similar manner to which he did on this occasion. Near the 500 Metres, DANZULU was steadied away from the heels of BIG WINNER AGAIN. Just prior to straightening, SILVER BLAZE was bumped by FLYING COLOURS which got its head on the side and shifted out away from BIG WINNER AGAIN. At the 100 Metres, DANZULU was steadied when awkwardly placed between MASTER ELITE and SILVER BLAZE which shifted out slightly. In the Straight, MASTER ELITE hung in. BOLERO, MASTER ELITE and HOME TREASURE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported FLYING COLOURS had lost its right hind plate and had sustained a minor abrasion to its right hind coronet.
