Racing Incident Report

SPARKLE was withdrawn on 17.3.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter CENTENNIAL SMILE. Before being allowed to race again, SPARKLE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, COME HO CHOI and KINGSTON TEMPLE were taken back from wide barriers. BOBO WIN was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY became unbalanced and lost ground when crowded for room between FISHKING EXCELLENT and BAUHINIA which shifted out slightly. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion and again near the 1300 Metres, REAL REJOICING was steadied when momentarily crowded for room inside KING OF TURF. After the 1200 Metres, PLEASURE PLEASURE proved difficult to settle when being restrained while racing outside the lead. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, PLEASURE PLEASURE got its head up when being steadied when crowded for room inside ZERO GRAVITY (Apprentice M Chadwick) which got its head on the side and shifted in. Apprentice Chadwick was told in similar circumstances he would be expected to make a greater effort to prevent his mount from shifting ground. Approaching the 400 Metres, GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY was carried back by ARISTOCRACY which in turn was carried back when PLEASURE PLEASURE commenced to give ground. Prior to straightening, KINGSTON TEMPLE was steadied away from the heels of KING OF TURF. For a considerable distance after straightening, GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY had difficulty obtaining clear running when racing tight inside KING OF TURF. At the 250 Metres, COME HO CHOI, which was hanging in, was steadied when disappointed for running between PLEASURE PLEASURE and BAUHINIA. For the majority of the race, ZERO GRAVITY travelled wide and without cover. CENTENNIAL SMILE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CENTENNIAL SMILE after the race did not show any significant findings. BOBO WIN, BAUHINIA and FISHKING EXCELLENT were sent for sampling.
