Racing Incident Report

GO LUCKY GO was withdrawn on 22.5.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (stiff both fore limbs) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter WADASURPRISE. Before being allowed to race again, GO LUCKY GO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. During its preliminary, C K Tong was dislodged from WADASURPRISE. WADASURPRISE did not break free from C K Tong. RED RULER was slow to begin. On jumping, NAMJONG HUNTER and WADASURPRISE were crowded for room between DREAM HORSE and HAPPY GO LUCKY, both of which shifted ground. After bumping with WADASURPRISE, HAPPY GO LUCKY became unbalanced. Shortly after the start, MALAYAN BRIGHT was checked severely and MEGA HILL was checked when crowded for room between MOON CHASER which shifted out and TAI HANG’S PRIDE which was carried in by FLY ME TO THE MOON. At the 600 Metres, FLY ME TO THE MOON was steadied away from the heels of AMNESTY. Making the Home Turn, TAI HANG’S PRIDE was held up and unable to improve when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DREAM HORSE which commenced to give ground. W C Marwing (MALAYAN BRIGHT) reported after receiving interference at the start, his mount failed to handle today’s track conditions. MALAYAN BRIGHT was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, MALAYAN BRIGHT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination confirmed the horse to be a “roarer”. When questioned regarding the poor performance of NAMJONG HUNTER, Z Purton said his mount travelled satisfactorily in the early stages, however, after being bumped on several occasions by MOON CHASER after the 800 Metres when that horse shifted to a three wide position, he had to make use of NAMJONG HUNTER to hold its position. He said in his opinion NAMJONG HUNTER resented being pressured from its inside by MOON CHASER and as a consequence failed to finish the race off. He added when NAMJONG HUNTER was a beaten horse, he did not persevere in riding his mount out. Y T Cheng (DREAM HORSE) explained his mount showed good early speed and was able to cross to the lead without having to have too much use made of it. He said near the 500 Metres when he attempted to steady the tempo of the race, DREAM HORSE dropped the bit and was reluctant to stride out. He said in the Straight DREAM HORSE felt unbalanced in its action. He said in his opinion DREAM HORSE did not handle today’s track conditions. NAMJONG HUNTER and DREAM HORSE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NAMJONG HUNTER and DREAM HORSE after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER CHARGE and SOARING RIVER were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that WADASURPRISE had lost its left front plate. <25/5/2009 Additional Veterinary Reports> DREAM HORSE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. DREAM HORSE was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer K W Lui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left hind leg and had sustained a cut to the inside of the left hind gaskin. Before being allowed to race again, DREAM HORSE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
