Racing Incident Report

WINNING REWARD was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, MASTER DRAGON raced in restricted room between JUGGERNAUT and GALLANT GALLOP which after initially was shifting in of its own accord was taken in slightly by YOUNG HERO. Near the 550 Metres, QUELLE SURPRISE shifted out and bumped YOUNG HERO, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. Near the 150 Metres, WINNING REWARD was steadied and shifted to the inside of CHINA HERO and then over the final 50 Metres raced in restricted room inside CHINA HERO. Because of this, WINNING REWARD was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. Throughout the race, GOOD LUCK WIN hung out. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of QUELLE SURPRISE, W C Marwing stated that he had worked the horse in the lead up to tonight’s race and that work, in his opinion, was good. He said from an awkward barrier, he was able to obtain a good position on the fence behind the speed, however, the horse came under pressure near the 600 Metres and was most disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. He said he had advised the trainer that, in his opinion, QUELLE SURPRISE had failed to run out the distance at this stage of its career. A veterinary inspection of QUELLE SURPRISE after the race did not show any significant findings. O’REILLY MAGIC, YOUNG HERO and PACKING BUDDY were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SUPER GENKI had lost its right front plate.
