Racing Incident Report

ROCKET PROUD was withdrawn on 17.9.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame and sore left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter TWIN TURBO (J Lloyd). Before being allowed to race again, ROCKET PROUD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Whilst in the saddling stalls, SMILING WATCH had its left front plate refitted. SMILING WATCH was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. REAL GENEROUS and ORIENTAL COURSER were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, WIN ‘EM ALL was crowded for room between NOVEL START and HERO’S WIN which shifted in after beginning awkwardly. Over the final 600 Metres, WIN ‘EM ALL raced greenly. For some distance approaching the 300 Metres, TWIN TURBO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PAPAS. After the race, K C Leung reported that his saddle shifted back on ORIENTAL COURSER near the 200 Metres. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SMILING WATCH, B Prebble stated that in the Parade Ring and on the way to the Start SMILING WATCH was settled and did not get stirred up. He said however that after being loaded SMILING WATCH became very fractious and reared on a number of occasions. He said SMILING WATCH began awkwardly and then in the early stages did not stretch out as it had done in its barrier trial and in its work in the lead up to today’s race. He added that he placed SMILING WATCH under pressure prior to the 600 Metres, however, the horse still did not stretch out and was disappointing. A veterinary inspection of SMILING WATCH after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, SMILING WATCH will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. A veterinary inspection of STAR LEGEND after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that WIN ‘EM ALL had bled from both nostrils. BLUE CAVIAR and SOLAR GREAT were sent for sampling.
