Racing Incident Report

FAST INTENTIONS and SUNSHINE BOY were slow to begin. SEIZE THE DAY knuckled over at the start, resulting in its rider, Apprentice M L Yeung, becoming badly unbalanced in the saddle and SEIZE THE DAY losing ground. Making the first turn near the 850 Metres, VICTORY GENERAL proved very difficult to settle, got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of HEY HA MASTER. After the 800 Metres, SUNSHINE BOY was left racing wide and without cover. POLYMER POWER also travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. Near the 750 Metres, FAST INTENTIONS was steadied away from the heels of TYCOON TAYLOR. Rounding the Home Turn, FLYING KEEPER shifted out and bumped POLYMER POWER. VICTORY GENERAL had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and near the 100 Metres raced tight between SEIZE THE DAY and CLASSIC FIGURE. Over the concluding stages, GENERAL DANROAD and FLYING KEEPER raced tight inside POLYMER POWER which shifted in slightly. In the Straight, FLYING KEEPER got its head on the side and hung out. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of PLANET, D Beadman stated that PLANET became more stirred up prior to the start than it did at its first up run this season when successful. He said after being placed in the barrier stalls, PLANET became very fractious and lunged at the front gates, resulting in the horse beginning awkwardly. He said after the 700 Metres PLANET proved difficult to settle and had to be steadied away from the heels of DUKE’S VICTORY. He added in the Straight he attempted to follow DUKE’S VICTORY through between runners, however, PLANET did not finish off the race as well as that horse and was disappointing. A veterinary inspection of PLANET after the race did not show any significant findings. PLANET, SUNSHINE BOY and CLASSIC FIGURE were sent for sampling.
