Racing Incident Report

STALLION SUPREME was withdrawn on 18.5.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter DANEWIN TIGER (T Angland). Before being allowed to race again, STALLION SUPREME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When parading behind the barriers, BEAR EXPRESS kicked out and made contact with the rail. BEAR EXPRESS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. NO TIES was crowded for room at the start between HOW SPEEDY and PERFECT FIT which shifted out. In this incident, NO TIES and HOW SPEEDY bumped, resulting in HOW SPEEDY being taken out towards the heels of WINSOME which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly. When being checked away from the heels of WINSOME, HOW SPEEDY then shifted in abruptly, causing NO TIES to be checked when crowded for room outside PERFECT FIT. From wide barriers, TOAST FOR TROPHY and DANEWIN TIGER were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1100 Metres, HAPPY FRIENDS and TEAM WORK bumped. Making and rounding the first turn after the 900 Metres, HAPPY FRIENDS raced greenly and got its head up on a number of occasions. Rounding the Home Turn, HOW SPEEDY and BESPOKE MASTER bumped as HOW SPEEDY shifted out to obtain clear running. After the 400 Metres, TEAM WORK was momentarily held up for clear running. In the Straight, BEAR EXPRESS got its head on the side and shifted out and after the 100 Metres again shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of HOW SPEEDY. As a consequence, HOW SPEEDY became unbalanced, shifted in and made further contact with BEAR EXPRESS which continued to shift out, resulting in both horses becoming badly unbalanced. Throughout the race, WINSOME travelled wide and without cover. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on NO TIES at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. A veterinary inspection of BESPOKE MASTER after the race did not show any significant findings. VIVACISSIMO and TEAM WORK were sent for sampling.
