Racing Incident Report

ROYAL KNIGHT was withdrawn on 25.6.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore right front fetlock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SUPER TEAM (A Suborics). Before being allowed to race again, ROYAL KNIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GFIFFINDOR and MASTER GUNNER were slow to begin.
CRAIG’S PRIDE began awkwardly.
YOUNG TALENT and GOOD LOOKING WATCH bumped at the start. A short distance later, YOUNG TALENT was crowded for room outside SUPER TEAM which got its head on the side and shifted out. SUPER TEAM and YOUNG TALENT were then taken across behind runners.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, MASTER GUNNER was steadied away from the heels of CRAIG’S PRIDE.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, EASY GOLD momentarily raced in restricted room between LITTLE RAINFOREST and TRENDY WIN.
After being ridden along aggressively in the early stages to take up a forward position, GOOD LOOKING WATCH was left racing wide and without cover after passing the winning post on the first occasion. GOOD LOOKING WATCH was then ridden along after the 900 Metres to eventually take up a position one horse off the rail behind TRENDY WIN.
Near the 1300 Metres, MASTER GUNNER was momentarily tightened for room inside CRAIG’S PRIDE which got its head on the side and lay in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of TWIN TURBO. SUPER TEAM, which was following, was hampered in consequence.
After the 900 Metres, YOUNG TALENT was left racing wide and without cover.
For some distance after the 800 Metres, TWIN TURBO proved difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DANZULU.
At the 600 Metres, MASTER GUNNER was momentarily crowded for room inside EASY GOLD which shifted in marginally. SUPER TEAM, which was following, was hampered in consequence.
Just prior to the 200 Metres, the whip of T Berry (GRIFFINDOR) was knocked from his grasp by the whip of T Angland (TRAVEL GUIDE).
Over the concluding stages, TWIN TURBO raced in restricted room between TRAVEL GUIDE and DANZULU (R Fourie) which shifted in under pressure. Because of this, TWIN TURBO was not ridden out right to the end of the race. R Fourie was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he employs necessary measures to prevent his mount from shifting ground in similar circumstances.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on SUPER TEAM at the request of Trainer A Lee. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER TEAM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of GOOD LOOKING WATCH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had lost its right front plate.
TWIN TURBO, GRIFFINDOR and DANZULU were sent for sampling.
