Racing Incident Report

In the Parade Ring, JOLLY SPRING, which was having its first start in Hong Kong tonight and which had not previously barrier trialed at Happy Valley, became fractious and after entering the track initially proved difficult to proceed to the Start. Trainer T W Leung was advised that a warning would be placed on JOLLY SPRING in respect of parade ring manners.
JOLLY SPRING began only fairly.
From wide barriers, SUGAR and HAPPY HOMING were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
For some distance near the 700 Metres, TRUE COURAGE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of RIDE ON THE FIRE.
Passing the 250 Metres, HAPPY HOMING was shifted out away from the heels of LUCKY GAINS which shifted out after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of MR AWARD which shifted out after being struck with the whip.
After the 50 Metres, TRUE COURAGE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of FORZA which shifted out slightly under pressure.
Throughout the race, HAPPY HOMING travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of YOU ARE THE ONE, T Berry stated that after RIDE ON THE FIRE improved to its outside after the 1000 Metres, YOU ARE THE ONE would not settle and got its head up on a number of occasions when over-racing. He said because of this YOU ARE THE ONE was not able to finish off its race as it did at its most recent start when successful. A veterinary inspection of YOU ARE THE ONE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped.
YOU ARE THE ONE, FORZA and TRUE COURAGE were sent for sampling.
<5/7/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>YOU ARE THE ONE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. YOU ARE THE ONE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer P F Yiu this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, YOU ARE THE ONE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that SUGAR was lame in its right hind leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, SUGAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
